The end of Reading Rainbow (no pot of gold in sight) got us thinking about educational TV shows. Reading Rainbow didn't teach kids how to read; it taught them why to read. It's an important distinction and according to this article by NPR, one educational TV shows lack these days.

Tour a landmark building that has a great view of the city, like the Empire State Building or the Space Needle. Bring math into the experience by discussing the height of the building, when it was built, and how many people it took to build it.
