Position Summary

The Flash Production Artist takes static comps and functional requirements and develops the final Flash deliverables.

Responsibilities & Requirements

We're building a large scale web service using modern web technologies to deliver learning experiences to students. You'll join a small, nimble team of experienced educators, software engineers, and graphic artists with experience in large corporations and small start-ups (including Amazon.com, Data General, Drugstore.com, Expedia, Google, IBM, Junglee, Microsoft, Pure Networks, Rational Software, Software Publishing, UIEvolution, and VMWare).

Our culture is high-integrity, informal, and intense.

Your role would be to take static comps and functional requirements and develop the final Flash deliverables. This involves producing assets for a large educational Flash game and working closely with the development team who would take these assets and integrate them within the game. After taking direction from designers you would add animation and movement to interface elements. You would also be tasked in adding and editing basic ActionScript on buttons, animations, and scenes. Best practices should be used throughout. Besides Flash creation, developing and maintaining existing Flash applications and elements would be expected. The ability to understand and work within unfamiliar files and get results fast is a big plus.

  • The ability to precisely bring to life designs in a timely fashion.
  • Thrive in a fast turnaround, high-pace work atmosphere.
  • The ability to build out similar concepts off a master design with direction.
  • A good sense of typography, color, contrast and shape.
  • Should have some efficiency in ActionScript 3.
  • Knowledge of Flash best practices in timeline animation and Flash embedding.
  • Sense of teamwork to work in the trenches alongside designers and developers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively your ideas.
  • Previous experience with Flash games is a big plus.
  • Previous experience with children products is a big plus.
  • Working level of both written and spoken English is a must.
