Web Developer


Position Summary


The web developer is responsible for development and maintenance of the dreambox.com website and user dashboard intranet sites. The web developer will report to the VP of Product Development and will work primarily to execute marketing initiatives.

Responsibilities & Requirements


We're building a large scale web service using modern web technologies to deliver learning experiences to students. You'll join a small, nimble team of experienced educators, software engineers and graphic artists with experience in large corporations and small start-ups.

You'll be working on all of the content and functionality for our public- and customer-facing websites. This includes:

  • Creating and maintaining websites utilizing the technologies listed below
  • Implementing content changes and interactive features into new and existing websites
  • Working with web designers to implement web layouts
  • Cross-browser and interface testing & quality testing
  • You must have the ability to quickly produce high quality work in both deadline and non-deadline situations
  • You must have the ability to multitask between regular task requests, small projects and work as a team on larger projects

Qualifications


  • Expert level with scripting/programming languages such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS
  • Demonstrated experience with cross-browser and cross-platform issues with all popular web browsers (IE, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
  • Good visual design sense and capable of creating highly usable UI
  • Demonstrated experience working within a software development team
Experience with the following is a major plus:
  • Development frameworks/scripting languages including Ruby on Rails, PHP, DHTML, XML
  • Graphics Programs: Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Document Production: Adobe InDesign
  • Search engine optimization techniques
  • Troubleshooting & debugging Internet technologies
  • Utilizing or building Content Management Systems
