Playing DreamBox Learning K-2 Math for just four hours increased 2nd grade achievement test scores by 19%
In partnership with 2 public schools, 27 second graders participated in a program to
play DreamBox once each school day for 2 weeks. Students were given 2 parallel paper-and-pencil
tests, 1 before and 1 after the 2-week period. The tests were comparable to the
achievement tests used for accountability under No Child Left Behind (NCLB), and focused
on the number sense and operation curriculum emphasized by the National Council of
Teachers of Mathematics. Students demonstrated significant improvement, scoring 19%
higher on the follow-up test.
