Instructional Philosophy

Boy and girl use a computer to learn math

At DreamBox Learning, we believe all children can become proficient mathematical thinkers when their learning environment is engaging, individualized, and responsive to their developing mathematical ideas and strategies.

An engaging learning environment

DreamBox leverages game mechanics to tap into students' love for playing games and learning online. It provides a learning environment with math-based virtual manipulatives to develop number sense and mathematical concepts. Students are appropriately challenged at their level to develop conceptual understanding, computational fluency and problem-solving.

Individualized instruction

We understand the challenges of teaching students who develop mathematical understanding differently, which is why we designed our Intelligent Adaptive Learning™ platform to deliver millions of pathways to students based on continuous assessment of their choices. In addition to analyzing answer choices, DreamBox develops an understanding of how students arrive at those answers and adapts to a student's individual learning style.

Responsive to developing ideas and strategies

Great teachers know when to offer hints or alternative styles of instruction, based on each student’s work and learning style. DreamBox acts as a partner in the classroom by adjusting the number and type of math problems students see in the curriculum and providing just the right amount of scaffolding and encouragement a student needs based on their answers and problem-solving stratgey.
