Math Challenge Fall 2016 – Terms & Conditions

Official Rules

All educators who are affiliated with a K–8 classroom actively using DreamBox Learning Math in the United States and Canada, may enter into the ‘2016 Fall Math Challenge’ contest hosted by DreamBox Learning. Only paid 12- month (plus) contract customers are eligible to win Grand Prizes. Paid Pilots are eligible to win regional prizes.
Classrooms are limited to winning one ‘Regional prize’ or the ‘Grand Prize’ (prizes listed in section below) throughout the duration of this contest, which begins at 12:00 am on Monday, October 24, 2016 and ends at 11:59 pm on Friday, November 11, 2016. The ‘2016 Fall Math Challenge’ and these Official Rules are void where prohibited by law, and are subject to applicable laws.

Prizes

Regional Prizes

Regional prizes will be awarded to 2 classrooms with the highest number of lessons completed during the term of the contest in each of the following six regions: Canada; Northeast (ME, NJ, VT, MA, RI, CT, DE, MD, WV, PA, OH, IN, MI, NH, District of Columbia), Southeast (FL, NC, SC, GA, TN, MS, AL, LA, KY, VA), Central (TX, AR, OK, IL, MO, IA, WI, MN, ND, SD, NE, KS, OK), Mountain (NM, AZ, CO, UT, ID, WY, MT), Pacific (WA, OR, CA, NV, AK, HI).  In each region, one winner will be from a new school, a school that implemented DreamBox Learning Math during the 2016-2017 school year ( starting July1, 2016), and one to a returning school, or a school that used DreamBox Learning Math prior to the 2016-2017 school year (prior to July 1,2016). 

Categories

Highest Total Lessons Regionally – New DreamBox Learning Customers

Awarded to the classroom with the highest total lessons completed throughout the entire duration of the contest. In the event of a tie, we will extend the time period (of only the tied classrooms) to include classroom usage by 1 week increments prior to the contest until there is no longer a tie.

Highest Total Lessons Regionally – Returning DreamBox Learning Customers

Awarded to the classroom with the highest total lessons completed throughout the entire duration of the contest. In the event of a tie, we will extend the time period (of only the tied classrooms) to include classroom usage by 1 week increments prior to the contest until there is no longer a tie.

Prizes for the above 2 categories in each region will receive:

  1. ‘DreamPack’ (DreamBox drawstring backpack containing a bracelet, pencil, stickers, and a t-shirt for each student.)
  2. $100 Gift Card (Classroom celebration fund/party)
  3. An invitation to participate in an exclusive Early Feedback Program that provides access to DreamBox Learning Intelligent Adaptive Professional Learning.

Grand Prizes

National grand prizes will be awarded to 2 classrooms with the highest number of lessons completed out of all DreamBox Learning customers during the term of the contest. The National Grand Prize winner will not be eligible for the regional prizes. In the region where the grand prize winner is located, the second place winner will be recognized as regional winner.

Categories:

Highest Total Lessons Nationally – Returning DreamBox Learning Customers

Awarded to the classroom with the highest total lessons completed throughout the entire duration of the contest. In the event of a tie, we will extend the time period (of only the tied classrooms) to include classroom usage by 1 week increments prior to the contest until there is no longer a tie.

Prizes for the above 2 categories include:

Scholarship to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) for 1 educator from each winning school. Each scholarship will include: 1 conference registration fee and a travel voucher for up to $1,500. Travel voucher may be used for air fare and lodging. Should the school and/or district not be able to accept this reward, an alternate prize of 5 Chromebooks will be awarded.

An award will be given at the DreamBox learnig Customer Event at NCTM.

  1. Virtual Meet & Greet with the Creators of DreamBox Learning Math with the winning classroom or school. This is a time for the students to ask questions to the creators of DreamBox Learning Math. Questions must be submitted prior to the Video Chat. If a Classroom is not able to schedule a ‘Meet & Greet’ before their school year ends, they forfeit this prize.
  2. ‘DreamPack’ (DreamBox drawstring backpack containing a bracelet, pencil, stickers for each student.)
  3. $100 Gift Card (Classroom celebration fund/party)

Customer data will be pulled directly from the DreamBox Learning product to determine which classrooms are eligible to win. A classroom is only eligible to win a Grand Prize if they have 10 or more active students during the contest time frame.

*A classroom is only eligible to win in 1 prize category (National, Regional, New Customers, and Returning Customers) at the end of the contest. If there are multiple classrooms at the same school with the same number of students and same number of lessons completed, the prize will be awarded to the ‘Math’ classroom.

By accepting the a prize in any of the categories the classroom teacher or another colleague at the school agrees to a 30 minute interview with DreamBox Learning around how the classroom/school implements DreamBox Learning. The classroom also agrees to release the classroom and school names to the public for DreamBox Learning Marketing purposes.

District and school administrators will be notified of the award made to both regional and grand prize classrooms. Acceptance and distribution of the award, either the grand prize or the alternative, is at the discretion of the district and/or school administrators.

Additional Terms

Sponsor is not responsible for technical, network, telephone, computer, hardware or software, malfunctions of any kind, or for injury or damage to any user’s computer resulting from downloading any materials in connection with the contest. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual found to be tampering with the outcome of the contest, or the operation of the contest or DreamBox Learning web site; to be acting in violation of these rules; or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person.

Caution: Any attempt by any individual to deliberately damage any web site or undermine the legitimate operation of the contest may be a violation of Criminal and Civil Laws, and should such an attempt be made, sponsor and its

affiliates reserve the right to seek damages and/or other relief from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.

No transfer, reassignment, cash redemption or substitution of prizes is permitted except by Sponsor due to prize availability and then with prizes of similar value. Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Washington. Users agree that the decision of Sponsor related to the contest is final.
