Responsibilities & Requirements

We're building a large scale web service using modern web technologies to deliver learning experiences to students. You'll join a small, nimble team of experienced educators, software engineers, and graphic artists with experience in large corporations and small start-ups (including Amazon.com, Apple, Data General, Drugstore.com, Expedia, Google, Headbone Interactive, Humungous Entertainment, IBM, Junglee, Microsoft, Next, Pure Networks, Rational Software, Software Publishing, UIEvolution, VMWare and the Walt Disney Internet Group).

Our culture is high-integrity, informal, and intense.

As our one and only Program Manager, your job is to balance the needs of our customers with the realities of software development. You'll coordinate schedules and dependencies between software engineers writing code, teachers writing lessons, creative types creating audio and visual goodies, and quality engineers trying to break it all! You'll be writing specs, filing and tracking bugs, coordinating our beta testing efforts, and helping our VP of Marketing with competitive market research.

Ideally, after earning your BS in CS, you worked as a software engineer for 3-5 years, then moved into program management a few years ago.

  • Passion for creating and delivering a world-class customer experience via software.
  • Intense experience with designing and shipping high-volume software products.
  • Experience with web development (HTML, DHTML, Flash, Flex, SQL, and/or Ajax).
  • At least 4 years of software engineering experience (in an SDE and/or PM capacity).
  • Demonstrated team building and collaborative skills; start-up winners preferred.
