BELLEVUE, Wash., November 9, 2011 – DreamBox Learning (www.dreambox.com), today announced that it has hired Tim Hudson, Ph.D. as Director of Curriculum Design. In this role, Dr. Hudson will be responsible for guiding the vision, design and performance of DreamBox Learning’s Math curriculum.
Dr. Hudson brings more than a decade of K-12 public education experience to DreamBox Learning. Since 2006, he has served as the Curriculum Coordinator of K-12 Mathematics for the Parkway School District in St. Louis, MO, facilitating the development of the K-12 math curriculum; the development of district-wide math benchmark assessments; the creation of a math intervention program; and the selection of math-based technology tools and textbook materials.
“Tim has distinguished himself as a formidable innovator in next-generation learning,” said Jessie Woolley-Wilson, CEO at DreamBox Learning. “He was instrumental in bringing technology-based learning to the classroom where he tested and honed new instructional approaches that helped to unlock the learning potential of young students. His vision for mathematics instruction has established him as a trailblazer among district leaders. We are honored to have him join our growing team and help guide us as we endeavor to leverage intelligent adaptive learning to transform the way the world learns.”
Prior to Dr. Hudson’s extensive contributions in the Parkway School District, he was a high school mathematics teacher in the Pattonville School District in St. Louis, where he taught Geometry, Algebra II, and Discrete Mathematics. As a classroom teacher, Dr. Hudson also served on several district-level committees including the Superintendent’s Teachers Advisory Council, District Technology Committee, and Curriculum Coordinating Council.
“As a former K-12 mathematics curriculum coordinator and teacher, as well as an early adopter of DreamBox Learning Math in the classroom, I’ve witnessed the power and effectiveness of the innovative DreamBox Learning platform, particularly how it personalizes the learning experience to meet the individual needs of each student,” said Dr. Hudson. “It is fundamentally different and more advanced than any other tool available, and I’m excited to help shape the future curriculum of this game-changing technology.”
Dr. Hudson is a long-time member of the National Council of Teachers in Mathematics (NCTM). His works, which have been published and presented in a variety of forums, include: Classrooms Where Children Learn (a co-authored chapter in the NCTM-published book, Models of Intervention in Mathematics: Reweaving the Tapestry), Professional Learning Partnerships for Middle School Mathematics Teachers, 101 Things Every Math Teacher Should Consider, and Teaching Students, Not Formulas.
