  • “The amazing thing about using DreamBox in our Summer Advantage USA program was that it allowed us to in some cases more than double the skills and content each child was able to practice and master. In just 4 weeks of using DreamBox for 20 minutes 4 times a week, as part of the math instructional block, we saw a full 4.1 months of improvement in math achievement.”

    — Michelle Ciccone, Strategic Initiatives Manager
  • “Why is DreamBox so engaging for our students? I believe it is the combination of adaptive technology, high quality, comprehensive math content and a learning environment that encourages students to experience and make sense of mathematics. It is the intertwining of all three of these elements that provides an optimal learning zone. I can see all of these elements at work.”

    — Ed Enns, Learning Services Consultant

  • DreamBox is a great tool for reinforcing the number sense skills taught through classroom instruction, not only for ELL and struggling students, but for every child. On a daily basis, students are connecting what they learn on DreamBox to what they are learning in the classroom. Teachers are always hearing, “I learned that strategy on Dreambox” while teaching mathematics.

    — Tracey Curcio, Title I Math Teacher
  • Knowing that number sense is a key component in building a strong foundation in mathematics, our primary goal for bringing DreamBox to our school was to help our ELL and struggling students build this foundation, not only during classroom instruction, but through technology as well. DreamBox differentiates instruction based on each individual child’s ability level through visual learning. With our students, we have found that DreamBox is not just an intervention tool. We have seen the benefits of DreamBox with students of all ability levels.

    — Tracey Curcio, Title I Math Teacher
  • My students are using the program at home, during math stations, computer time and as an intervention for RTI. Overall we are very satisfied with the program. Graphics are outstanding as well as the individualized lessons that incorporate a variety of manipulatives.

    — Tina Tipton, Math Instructional Coach
  • The Common Core Report is my favorite. It helps me to see exactly what areas the students are working on and passing. I can also see where they are having difficulty and spending more time. I use this data for small group time where I can focus on the specific areas that each student needs help.

    — Shannon Freel, Second Grade Teacher
  • Students at ICEF are moving from basic to proficient and proficient to advanced. DreamBox has been a key component of that.

    — Ryan Gomez, Principal
  • DreamBox helps us pinpoint where students are struggling and where teachers can reinforce instruction. Our intervention specialist gets more impactful face-to-face time as a result of her use of DreamBox.

    — Ryan Gomez, Principal
  • When the kids are online with DreamBox, the teachers can see exactly what they are working on, so they can redirect or reinforce their learning. It lets the teacher be a facilitator because DreamBox is personalizing each child’s learning. Teachers know that when their students are working independently, they are engaged in authentic learning that is rigorous and relevant.

    — Rodolfo Ramos, Instructional Specialist
  • In addition to being intelligent and adaptive, it was very important to us that the personalized math program we selected be user friendly, simple to access and easy to navigate. DreamBox on the iPad provides all of those!

  • DreamBox formatively assesses gaps in math learning and provides targeted practice exactly where each child needs it. It really helps me to meet all my student’s individual needs.

    — Patsy Stine, ESL Teacher
  • Using DreamBox in our math instructional blocks has allowed us to change practice, close gaps and target instruction to each child’s specific ability level. Because it adapts within lessons, teachers are able to the use the reporting data to inform and change their instruction almost immediately.

    — Patsy Stine, ESL Teacher
  • We had phenomenal teachers but scores weren’t going up. We had kids that were able to work to level but needed to fill gaps in understanding. For example, we had fifth graders that could multiply, but not do division. DreamBox has allowed us to pinpoint the areas where each child is struggling and target instruction to their ability level. It is helping us to fill gaps in understanding and ultimately to close the achievement gap.

    — Nicole Makovetz, Third and Fourth Grade MST
  • Regardless of a student’s academic performance, kids at every level gain a tremendous sense of accomplishment using DreamBox. We have a huge disparity in math ability levels and so allowing older kids that are actually working on primary grade math content to use an intermediate interface has been incredibly empowering.

    — Nicole Makovetz, Third and Fourth Grade MST
  • DreamBox reports highlight exactly where there are gaps in each student’s math background.

    — Ms Hall, Fourth Grade Teacher
  • I often assign 20 minutes on DreamBox as homework. This is especially useful when students are not ready to practice the skill being taught .

    — Ms Hall, Fourth Grade Teacher
  • The app works seamlessly with our curriculum and instruction. With iPads available in all of our Lower School classrooms, DreamBox fits effortlessly into our teachers’ center rotations — There’s no extra teacher preparation needed and the kids love to play it!

    — Melissa Tucker, LS Technology Integration Specialist
  • Our students are not only falling in love with math again, but they are able to challenge themselves at a higher level than before. DreamBox is allowing our children to review what they’ve done before in class as well as preview some of the concepts that their teacher hasn’t taught yet.

    — Melissa Tucker, LS Technology Integration Specialist
  • I was a huge supporter of bringing DreamBox to Stubbs Elementary after seeing a huge success with it while I was assistant principal at Oberle last year. We saw more than a 15% increase in our math scores in one year and the only thing we did differently was use DreamBox. Based on Stubbs’ State assessment data, closing the achievement gap in math is a priority. I am excited to see the impact it will have on our students here.

    — Melissa Brady, Assistant Principal
  • Our students love it, and our teachers like it even more — it’s self-paced, self-managed and the reports provide us with the data we need to provide the best, most personalized instruction that we possibly can.

    — Melissa Brady, Assistant Principal
  • Our kids absolutely love the new DreamBox app. Being able to put their hands on the screen, interact with and easily maneuver the virtual manipulatives has made learning fun and accessible for even our youngest learners.

    — Melissa Bell, School Improvement Coach
  • Since the release of your app my students’ engagement in DreamBox has increased greatly. Their weekend and evening usage is way up. I am currently teaching one of Cathy Fosnot’s context for learning units of study, Muffle’s Truffles. Most of my students are making amazing connections to the work they are doing in their personalized learning through DreamBox. Students are plugging their iPads into the computer and projecting their DreamBox work on our Promethean Board. The conversations about patterns and strategies among my young mathematicians is amazing!

    — Mary Mroczenski, Third Grade Teacher
  • DreamBox has been very instrumental in helping my school meet State of DE Goals and AYP by decreasing the Educational Gap. After using it with our Hispanic English Language Learners for just 5 months last year, they met our AYP in math for the first time ever– on the first attempt.

    — Marilyn Dollard, Principal
  • DreamBox is engaging, adaptive, easy to access and requires no teacher diagnostic time. It’s helping all of our students to fill gaps in their conceptual understanding.

    — Marilyn Dollard, Principal
  • We love DreamBox on the iPad. The kids use it on an almost daily basis… They especially like being able to manipulate things with their hands instead of the mouse… It’s interesting, if given the choice, most of them would choose to play it on the iPad instead of the computer.

    — Amy Bolting, Fifth Grade Math Teacher
  • We currently are using DreamBox for students in our focus school designation as an addition to their Tier 1 instruction. We are just starting to use DreamBox for students that qualify for Tier 2 as we have data to support this need. We do not have any researched based data on DreamBox, but our experience last year showed that this support helped many students make growth in math. We like that DreamBox teaches students where they are and assesses them at every key stroke. Teachers have been very happy that they can access the data about students in many different ways and that students using DreamBox are very independent.

    — Lindsey Snow
  • DreamBox has been instrumental in helping our teachers address gaps in conceptual understanding and maximizing instructional time in the classroom.

    — Laura Brace, Elementary Math Curriculum Specialist

  • During the 2012/2013 year about 90% of our students who used DreamBox for 60-90 minutes weekly met or exceeded their projected growth on the math NWEA.

    — Katie LaMott, Math Support Specialist
  • Our teachers love that DreamBox is a naturally differentiated math activity. We know that each student is getting exactly what they need at the time they need it. It’s powerful learning that’s also fun.

    — Katie LaMott, Math Support Specialist
  • DreamBox is an engaging program that gives students the power to be self-directed learners– and that’s what I want for them. The immediate feedback lets them either continue with that topic or redo a lesson that needs reinforcement.

    — Kathleen Haas, Title One Teacher
  • The kids are motivated, we like the quick access to data, and we like that it helps us to “fill in gaps” in conceptual understanding.

    — Julie Jameson Benay, Principal

  • Last year we used a SOL remediation grant to provide tutoring services to K-5 students that were struggling with math. However, only 22% of those students passed the SOL at the end of the year. This year we’re using DreamBox in our before and after school remediation programs instead and anticipate some much improved outcomes

    — Julianne Marse, Assistant Principal
  • My students love playing DreamBox on the iPad. It’s so engaging that they ask to use it all the time – even outside of math time. However, they are often so busy playing that they are not aware that they are actually engaging with a highly rigorous math curriculum.

    — Jodie Kujawa, IPLC 123 teacher
  • DreamBox differentiates for each student and helps them to be successful wherever they are. The kids just love it!

    — Joan Temple, Principal
  • I love the teacher reports in DreamBox. The Common Core Standards and Strands report matches our continuums. The report allows me to see exactly where each of my students is proficient and how they are progressing.

    — Jennifer Sitzberger, IPLC 123 teacher
  • It’s really allowed me to focus on my small group instruction and I can already see the progress I’m making with students. It really just helps teachers manage the class so they can focus on guided math groups, and there has been all positive feedback about how students are working on what they need to work on – right in the zone of proximal development – better than a teacher can differentiate for 25 students.

    — Jennifer Scholla, Third Grade Teacher
  • Level of engagement in DreamBox is so much higher than in other programs we have used. The amazing thing is that it entices children to play more and they don’t realize that they are actually working with a rigorous math curriculum.

    — Jennifer Daniels, Principal
  • It was important to our teachers that DreamBox is aligned with the TEKS and provides them with reporting that allows them to know exactly where each child is performing in regards to curriculum.

    — Jennifer Daniels, Principal

  • It’s a game for your brain and you just don’t realize that you’re also learning.

    — Fifth Grade Student, Student
  • We use DreamBox with students that have not previously seen any success at all in math. DreamBox is incredibly successful at helping these kids let down their guard – and the compelling gaming element is instrumental to their success. Once they meet challenging material they are so invested in process that they actually stick with it!

    — Elliot Sanchez, Founder
  • DreamBox does a fantastic job of balancing kids comfort level, engagement and success exactly within their zone of proximal development.

    — Elliot Sanchez, Founder
  • I asked my students to tell me what they like about DreamBox and the consensus is that it is user friendly; students are able to navigate and learn independent of the need for constant support and instruction. And, of course, most said it was “fun”.

    — Ed Avinger, Fourth Grade Teacher

  • Last year, 70% of our Tier 2 & Tier 3 Intervention students using DreamBox in 2nd through 4th grade made more than 1 year’s math growth. It’s so important that these gaps in understanding are filled early.

    — Deborah Miller, Elementary RtI Coordinator
  • DreamBox is so visual that it provides kids with different ways of looking at concepts and promotes a deeper understanding of the concepts rather than just memorization.

    — Deborah Miller, Elementary RtI Coordinator
  • After just 3 months on DreamBox I have noticed that almost 2/3 of our kindergartners this year are already completing 1st grade math content. That’s impressive!

    — Dave Stevens, Technology Specialist
  • As a technology specialist, DreamBox on the iPad makes my job so much easier. When I know that even our kindergartners can easily access, login and manipulate engaging and rigorous instructional content on their own, I know it’s going to be a successful program.

    — Dave Stevens, Technology Specialist
  • We selected DreamBox because we wanted an online math program that would provide data to allow our teachers to show each child’s progress against the Common Core. Our teachers use the data in DreamBox to see exactly where their students are who’s excelling, who might need additional help and which kids that might benefit from some kind of intervention. Many of our teachers also send the DreamBox reports home every week to let parents know exactly what their child is working on.

    — Dave Stevens, Technology Specialist
  • A higher interest in math is probably the greatest outcome above and beyond scores.

    — Cynthia White, Principal
  • DreamBox has helped my teachers bridge the transition to the Common Core by highlighting the mathematical knowledge and understandings needed by our students.

    — Colleen Shields, Principal
  • DreamBox has helped my teachers bridge the transition to the Common Core by highlighting the mathematical knowledge and understandings needed by our students.

    — John SanGiovanni
  • The DreamBox reports are excellent! My teachers appreciate the progress reporting details that help them to understand exactly where each student is proficient and has reached conceptual understanding.

    — Colleen Shields, Principal
  • DreamBox supports my teaching by “filling in gaps” that they may have in knowledge. As a Kindergarten teacher, students come with a wide variety of skills and on vast different levels. It also helps give students an interactive game that is aligned to the Common Core that I can have them do independently while I rotate teaching math in small, flexible groups

    — Christine Jimenez, Bilingual Kindergarten Teacher
  • DreamBox really helps me learn where students are having trouble. I can play with them or watch them play and have them articulate how they got to an answer. For example: how they filled up the tens frame (made nine by putting 5 then 4 more, or put the counters on one by one). This way I know what they are ready for. A student who puts 5 and then 4 more to make 9 is developmentally more ready for addition and subtraction than a student who puts counters on 1 by 1 to get to a desired number. A lot of times I do this by asking them to show me how to play or help me teach other students how to play (ex: on my smart board). Also, students who are able to articulate clearly how they got to an answer are clearly ready for a higher level of cognition and more rigor than students who cannot effectively explain how they reached answers.

    — Christine Jimenez, Bilingual Kindergarten Teacher
  • DreamBox is great! The kids love it and it is PERFECT for our population of low income, high poverty students. It teaches them computer skills in addition to perfectly aligning to our math content (CCSS) and filling in those gaps. We love it!

    — Christine Jimenez, Bilingual Kindergarten Teacher
  • I have seen tons of progress in their math facts, in their reasoning and problem solving skills. DreamBox has made a difference in my students’ performance and problem solving skills.

    — Astrid Kemper, Second Grade Teacher
  • What I love is that DreamBox takes every child where they are at and enables them to problem solve in their own ways.

    — Ann Ann Smith, Title One Teacher
  • I teach an intervention class of students on the autism spectrum who look forward to playing DreamBox every day. As visual learners, being able to physically move the virtual manipulatives around on the screen has allowed them to see and really understand math concepts in a whole new way. After just 6 months using DreamBox last year, I saw even my most math resistant students’ move from below basic on the CMA to basic or proficient.

    — Angela Snow, 3-5th Grade Inclusion Specialist
  • We have to keep moving forward in our classes, but there are just instances when kids have missed something along the way—either through an absence, or just not “getting it.” With DreamBox, I can have fifth grade students that don’t understand place value review and understand at their own pace. DreamBox helps to fill those educational gaps at the exact time and place that each child needs it … certainly something that I cannot provide for every student during our classroom tim

    — Amy Bolting, Fifth Grade Math Teacher
  • Whenever my students have some free class time, they pick up DreamBox on their iPads and do a lesson.  That’s definitely going to add up to a whole lot of new math learning by the end of the year!

    — Amy Bolting, Fifth Grade Math Teacher
  • Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools unrolled Dreambox this year across our elementary schools.  We continue to hear very positive reviews from students, teachers and parents during its initial year in our district.

    — Charles Nusinov, ED of Learning and Teaching
