April 2019 Activity Calendar!

What do super heroes, rainbows and oatmeal cookies all have in common?

We celebrate them all in April! That’s right DreamBoxer’s – April is here which means It’s time for the newest activity calendar! This month we have a ton to celebrate including National Pet Day, National Animal Cracker Day, Earth Day and so many more!

Did you know that Earth Day has only been around since the 1970’s? Yep, that’s right! The day was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson who first came up with the idea after witnessing the incredible damage of the 1969 oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. It was from there that Earth Day was born to spread awareness of our beautiful planet and the damage that’s being done each and every day, with hopes of a better tomorrow.

April is also home to National Haiku Poetry Day! A Haiku is a three-lined poem with the first and third lines containing 5 syllables and the second containing 7. This style of poetry originated in Japan in the 1600’s and found its way West in the early 1850’s. The Haiku is still an extremely popular form of poetry and still taught in classrooms all over the world! Maybe you could write Haikus with your friends on April 20th, which is National Hanging out Day! So:

Sit back and relax

Write a Haiku, or a few

And enjoy April!

Did we mention National Pretzel Day? It arrives just two days before National Super Hero Day. With National Tell a Story Day sandwiched between the two! Check out the DreamBox April 2019 Activity Calendar so you don’t miss a thing!
