Gaining Distinction in Math Learning
DreamBox has been accepted as a STEMworks distinguished program
STEMworks provides educators in organizations across the country with a searchable and cataloged database of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning programs. To join the ranks of this esteemed roster, a program has to adhere to certain design principles and meet rigorous review standards. DreamBox has cleared the high bar and been dubbed an “accomplished program”––the highest rating that STEMworks gives.
When the STEMworks team evaluates a program they take a number of criteria into consideration. Educational content must be challenging and relevant. It needs to be scalable for growing numbers of students over a period of time, and offer a reliable and sustainable set of results. Teachers have to be able to pull the data they need in order to measure progress. The program must also zero in on the needs of diverse and often under-represented learners.
The DreamBox K-8 math program demonstrated accomplishment in all of these essential areas. “We’re excited to receive this recognition and to join STEMworks in its mission…for students regardless of where they live, what prior knowledge they have, or what language they speak,” said Tim Hudson, Chief Learning Officer at DreamBox.
Tim also noted, “STEMworks’ rigorous evaluation empowers district decision makers with the information necessary to bring innovative programs to their classrooms.” An increasing number of teachers now have easy access to proven, accredited tools they can count on to personalize math instruction. Regular reports help them stay on top of what each learner needs. And students are inspired to achieve more than many of them had ever thought possible for themselves.
Dr. Mark Loveland, Project Director for STEMworks, says, “DreamBox can be very proud of joining the STEMworks honor roll. The level of effort involved in completing an application that clearly communicates both impact and inspiration is no small task.”
