July 2019 Activity Calendar

Festivities, fireworks, family and friends - it must be July!

When the weather is warm, and festivities are all around filling the fill the air with children’s laughter it can only mean one thing, it’s July! School is officially out, and it is time to relax, unwind and enjoy a glass of fresh lemonade!

July is all about hot dogs, beach days, fireworks, and family reunions. With all these festivities we come together to celebrate both our independence as a country and our love and appreciation for our family and friends. With the days long and warm, July is truly filled with endless possibilities for family, friendships and fun!

This month’s DreamBox Activity Calendar highlights some things about July that may actually surprise you! You’ll find fun ways to celebrate math in everything from macaroni to merry-go-rounds and even the moon. Towards the end of the month, we also give a well-deserved shout out to Amelia Earhart, the first female aviator (AKA aviatrix) to fly solo across the Atlantic – talk about independence! In addition to amazing courage, determination, and confidence, Amelia’s solo trip required some crazy math skills too. Her landmark flight took 20 hours and 40 minutes to complete and she couldn’t have done it without accurately calculating the distance and speed beforehand. Imagine that!
