Austin Independent School District selects DreamBox Learning® to bring adaptive math learning technology to K-8 classrooms district wide

5-year partnership will bring proven personalized learning platform and job-embedded professional development to more than 100 schools

AUSTIN, Texas —Jan. 22, 2019—DreamBox Learning®, the company that pioneered Intelligent Adaptive LearningTM technology, today announced a five-year agreement with the Austin Independent School District to deliver its online K-8 math platform to every elementary and middle school in the district.

The partnership means thousands of students across 83 elementary and 18 middle schools will have access to proven software that adapts to their ability and comprehension in real time, both during and between lessons. For teachers, DreamBox provides ways to further personalize lessons, monitor student growth and receive job-embedded professional development.

Austin ISD evaluated more than a dozen vendors before partnering with DreamBox for a solution that could improve student mathematics comprehension at every grade level – kindergarten to eighth grade – and close achievement gaps early. DreamBox stood out as the only solution offering an adaptive learning environment that provided students the right lesson at the right time.

“We are excited to start this new venture with DreamBox,” said Lisa Goodnow, Austin ISD Associate Superintendent of Academics and Social & Emotional Learning. “Early results in our pilot show great promise for our students’ growth in mathematical and reasoning skills. Our students tell us they ‘love’ working on DreamBox. It is an engaging and relevant resource for our students.”

Austin ISD completed a six-month pilot of DreamBox before deciding to implement the platform across the district. Results from the pilot showed that students who completed an average of 153 lessons over 19 weeks, experienced 82 percent growth. These results are in line with an earlier study from Harvard University conducted by the Center for Education Policy Research (CEPR) that demonstrated students who spent more time on DreamBox saw larger gains in achievement.

DreamBox has lessons in both English and Spanish, and the ability to switch between languages with a single click. This feature will help serve Austin ISD’s high population of English language learners (ELLs).

Along with the district-wide Austin ISD partnership, DreamBox is growing its foothold in the Texas market by expanding its partnership with the San Antonio Independent School District.
