DreamBox Learning K-2 Math Support

What are the requirements for DreamBox Learning to work on our home computer?

DreamBox Learning should work easily on most computers. Here are the requirements:

  1. The computer must have a mouse (touch pads do work, but are more difficult for most students).
  2. The computer’s display must have a minimum resolution of 1024x768.
  3. The computer must have sound capability.
  4. The computer must have a web browser. Windows supported web browsers are Internet Explorer 6 or 7, Firefox 1.x-3.x and Safari 3.x. Mac OS X (v 10.4, 10.5) supported web browsers are Firefox 2.x or 3.x and Safari 3.x.
  5. The web browser must allow session cookies (these are cookies that do not persist when the browser is shut down). If you are unsure about how to enable cookies on your browser, check the company website for your browser for instructions.
  6. The computer must have a current version of the Flash player installed. Version 10 is required. See: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507 to check your version number and http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash to install a newer version.
  7. The computer must have high-speed internet access with a connection speed equivalent to a residential DSL line (1.5Mbps down/640kbps up).
  8. Any firewall or filtering software must allow HTTP access to http://dreambox.com and sub-domains of dreambox.com.
  9. Any firewall or filtering software must allow HTTP POST requests to http://dreambox.com and sub-domains of dreambox.com.
  10. Any parental control software installed on the computer must allow DreamBox to run. Many do so already without any configuration changes, and some may require configuration changes.

Can I check to see if my computer currently meets DreamBox Learning’s requirements?

Yes, just go to www.dreambox.com/check_requirements and we will check to see if your computer meets the requirements to play DreamBox Learning.

What should I do if my computer is having trouble displaying video or playing sound in DreamBox Learning?

In order to check your computer requirements please go to the Parent Dashboard and click on the “Check your Requirements” link. When you click on this link DreamBox Learning will check your Adobe Flash Player version, computer display resolution, cookie settings and help you check the audio on your computer. This should help determine if there is an issue with your computer requirements. If you continue to have problems please do not hesitate to contact our customer support team!

Will there be any conflicts with parental control software that I have installed on my kid’s computer?

There might be. Some parental control software, under certain configurations, will block flash animations, pop-ups, and many of our dynamic adaptations, so DreamBox will either not run at all, or will sometimes freeze.

Will a wireless internet connection work?

Yes. DreamBox simply requires an Internet connection with sufficient bandwidth. The user experience will depend of course on the signal strength of your wireless connection.

What if I am not receiving all the progress and update emails from DreamBox Learning?

It is possible that your email provider is blocking some or all of the DreamBox emails. Please look in your spam filter.

How do I tell my computer to enable all the DreamBox pop-ups without having to click “yes” each time?
