Children’s Terms of Use – DreamBox Math, DreamBox Reading and Reading Plus

Thanks for reading our Terms of Use! But first, what are they? You can think of our Terms of Use as being like the rules you need to follow in the classroom. We have them so everyone using DreamBox Math, DreamBox Reading or Reading Plus (“DreamBox Products”) has a safe and fun learning experience. Please read them carefully and let your learning guardian or teacher know if you have any questions. You can also press the help button to see some common questions.

Who Can Use DreamBox Math?

The DreamBox Products are for kids like you! To use them, you must have an account created for you by a learning guardian or by your school.

Being Safe

Keep your personal information private. Don't share your username or password information with anyone except for your learning guardian or teacher.
If you think someone got into your account or knows your password, please tell a teacher by clicking the envelope (

), telling them in class or telling your learning guardian (or all these together!).

Using Our Content

All the games, videos, and activities are for learning and fun. You can use them as much as you want, but don’t copy or share them without permission from us.
You can print activities for personal use but can’t sell or use them for anything else.

Following the Rules

Follow the instructions and rules for each game or activity.
If you break the rules, we will let your teacher or your learning guardian know. In some cases we may have to suspend or delete your account to keep everyone safe.
Always be nice to your friends and teachers when using the DreamBox Products and everywhere else!

For DreamBox Math and DreamBox Reading: Using Your "Money"

When you complete lessons you earn points that are called Tokens or Coins.
Tokens or Coins are not real money that you can use in the outside world. Inside DreamBox Math you can use them to “buy” items, such as avatars, to personalize your account, buy songs or wallpapers, or to play mini games.
When you buy something (an avatar or a song), look at the price! That is what the purchase costs, and if you have enough Tokens or Coins, you can click “buy,” and we will deduct that amount from your total.
When you buy something there are no takebacks! You lose the money you spend, but you can earn it back by completing more lessons.
If you want to change an avatar or a song – you need to buy a new one, but you will not be able to keep the one(s) that you already have. If you want to change back to them, you will need to buy them again.
We might change how much money you get for each lesson or how using Tokens or Coins work. If we do, we will tell you before this happens, so you know what is coming.

Avatars and Songs

You need DreamBox money to buy avatars – read about this above on “Using Your Money.”
When you buy or change an avatar – that is how your account will appear to anyone who can see your account, like your teacher, your learning guardian or your friends.
You are the only one who can see which songs you bought.

Your Parents Can See What You Do

Your parents (or learning guardians) are interested in the hard work you are doing on the DreamBox Products. Just like parents can watch your soccer game on the field, parents can see some of what you are doing in the DreamBox Products. They can see which lessons you have completed, how long each lesson took you, how well you did on your lessons and what type of skills you are learning or need to learn (which we call “standards proficiency”).

Talking to Teachers

You can let your teacher know if you think a lesson is too easy or hard by sending your teacher a message by clicking on the envelope icon.
This opens a set of choices, and you can pick one that fits what you are trying to say.
You can also get messages from your teacher. In the message the teacher can use their words to tell you how you are doing and what you need to work on.
Tell a learning guardian if your teacher sends you a message that makes you uncomfortable or if you see something inappropriate.

Changing Our Mind

Just like you, we may change our mind sometimes. For example in DreamBox Math or DreamBox Reading, we might change how much money you get for each lesson, how using DreamBox “money” works, how to use avatars or songs, or something else. If we do, we will tell you before this happens.
If you have questions, always ask a teacher or a learning guardian.
